菜籽饼就是菜籽榨油后留下的渣子，就和豆饼一样。现在花市有经加工包装好的菜籽饼肥，可以和在泥土里制成团状，定期投在荷花缸里作追肥。

荷花是长日照植物，不耐荫蔽，日照时间应该在12-14个小时。民间有荷花不过桥的说法。
