where the stones are thick, they are set directly in mortar ( 1 part cement to 2.5 to 3 parts sand) which has been spread on a bed of gravel.
If they are thin, the bed of gravel is first set with concrete 10 cm deep, on top of which the mortar is laid after the concrete has been allowed to
dry for a day or two. When the stones are of both kinds, the thicker ones are set first, using the former technique, after which the remaining
spaces are filled with the thinner kind, using the concrete method. This type of path looks striking when edged with gravel.
大概的意思是说如果做台阶的石板比较厚，直接用mortar贴在石子路上。如果石头比较薄，那就先用混凝土把石子路硬化，然后再用mortar将石板贴在石子路上。 |
